Rain in the City
a thousand
dollar hooker
went down
to ten bucks
for me
but still
i said, no,
man,
a homeless guy
broadcasts
his story
on the
N train.2 raindrops
sneak out of
a closed umbrella
behind me,
and chase each
other down
my left
leg all
the way
to my
shoe,
warm up &
doze off
there.
but outside
a cold puddle
jumps in --
startled
by a
rushing cab --
& wakes
them up.
hide in
the jeans pocket
of the Gap girl
on the huge 5th
avenue ad,
they say,
not in our shoe --
it’s way too
small
for you!
